About the school

Lafayette Academy is a rising star in District 3 and one of Manhattan's most promising small middle schools. With an intimate student body of approximately 200 students, Lafayette offers a close-knit, nurturing community where every child is known, valued, and challenged. Our highly dedicated and passionate faculty are among the most dynamic educators in New York City, creating rigorous, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences that support each student's academic, emotional, and social growth. At Lafayette, we take pride in our unique ability to balance strong academics with a warm, student-centered environment. Our school's size allows us to build deep, meaningful relationships with our students and families, ensuring that every child is both supported and pushed to achieve their personal best. We are proud to be home to the only French Dual Language Program in Manhattan, offering bilingual students and native French speakers continued access to French language arts and selected content-area instruction in French. This program enriches our school community and cultivates global citizenship among our students. Understanding the significant developmental transitions that occur during the middle school years, we are deeply committed to preparing our students for the academic and social challenges of high school and beyond. Our graduates go on to some of the city's most competitive high schools, including Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, Bard, Beacon, LaGuardia, the NYC iSchool, and many more. At Lafayette Academy, we don't just educate students we empower them to lead, inspire, and thrive.
