About the school
Esperanza Preparatory Magnet School's middle school program (Grades 6-8) lays the foundation for academic excellence by preparing students for the rigor of high school, college, and future careers. Guided by our Magnet themes of Early College, Exploration, and Leadership, students engage in a challenging curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and technology integration. Through personalized instruction, leadership opportunities, project-based learning, and enrichment programs, students develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed academically and personally. Beginning in middle school, students have the opportunity to accelerate their learning by taking high school-level coursework, earning high school credits, and sitting for New York State Regents examinations before entering ninth grade. This early exposure allows students to build a strong academic transcript, explore advanced learning opportunities, and position themselves for Advanced Placement (AP), College Now, and other Early College experiences in high school. By starting this pathway in the middle grades, Esperanza ensures students are well-prepared to maximize their high school experience, graduate with college credits, and confidently pursue college, careers, and leadership opportunities.
