About the school

Antonia Pantoja Preparatory Academy is a school for leadership. We are a New York City public school for students in grades six to twelve dedicated to supporting students to become active, college-ready leaders of their community in the spirit of Dr. Pantoja. Our test scores are consistently above the district average -- last year they were the highest in the neighborhood! We are a small school and get to know every student well and support their needs and growth. Class sizes are never more than 22 in a room. Our school is unique. Students that enter the sixth grade may remain with us in their high school years before moving own to college or a career. While few 6th graders are thinking about life after high school, APPA is already preparing them for it.Through this long-term journey, our students and their families form strong bonds and relationships with staff that create a sense of belonging, support, and scholarship. In high school, students have the opportunity to take college classes beginning in their sophomore year. All upperclassmen take rich full-time internships in the real-world, working in hospitals, law offices, and other career-expanding locations. Come join us!Our dynamic community is the best school for students looking for a small community where they will be known, challenged, and supported.
