About the school
The Wade Academies MS 117X is a Community School that serves as a beacon for our neighborhood. Through a strong partnership with The Community Association for Progressive Dominicans (ACDP), we offer extensive support to our students and their families. We provide a wide range of services, including: Academic & Mentorship Support: college trips, on-site mentors, and opportunities for students to earn high school Regents credits. Family & Community Services: monthly food pantry access, parent classes, health and wellness workshops, free vision screenings and glasses, on-site dental and immigration services, and access to a washer and dryer. Mental Health Support: We offer mental health services and referrals to support our community. We have a diverse student body, with a large population of English Language Learners and students with disabilities. We offer a Traditional Bilingual Education Program (TBE), a Special Education Bilingual Program, and a freestanding English as a Second Language Program (FSESL) for students in grades 6-8. Our teachers use data-informed practices to design learning experiences that help all students reach mastery in literacy and mathematics. Our vision, guided by our core values of civic leadership, community, justice, and learning, is to foster an inclusive environment that prepares all students to become curious, socially just, and high-achieving citizens. We believe in an open-door policy for families and engage them through workshops, student performances, and school activities.
