About the school

The vision of the Lab School is to provide children and families with a nurturing educational environment for excellence in critical thinking, exploration, and experimentation. We are committed to developing each student to his/her full potential so that they can attain rigorous content and performance standards as set by the city and state. By encouraging an understanding and appreciation of diversity, human inter-connectedness, and their relationship to the environment, we will prepare our students to be ethical leaders in their communities and to serve the world around them. Our students enjoy arts programs, such as those offered by DreamYard, Puppetry & Practice, and Midori & Friends. We are partnered with CatRock Ventures for outdoor learning, Urban Advantage to promote science exploration, and the Rising New York Road Runners to encourage physical activity. Our students visit our local library regularly and have field trips/learning opportunities at various museums and cultural institutions throughout our city, such as The New York Historical Society, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Natural History, as well as the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Gardens. Students also enjoy various programs during the Empire State Afterschool Program.
