About the school
At Michelangelo Junior High School 144, students embark on a journey toward academic excellence and personal growth. Through a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Next Generation Learning Standards, our students develop into critical thinkers, effective problem solvers, thoughtful decision makers, and compassionate, ethical citizens. We take pride in preparing students for the academic demands of high school and beyond. Our dedicated Parent Association working closely with the parent coordinator ensures strong home-school communication and fosters a vibrant school community. Together, they support a variety of events, including student celebrations, theatrical productions, concerts, Honor Roll breakfasts, Academic Parent Teacher Team Evenings,Honor Society Night, and Family Nights. Families stay engaged with their child's learning through tools like Google Classroom, APTT, and the family newsletter where they can track academic progress and upcoming assignments. We also host Academic Parent-Teacher Team meetings six times a year, offering opportunities for families to collaborate directly with educators and students. With more than 30 student clubs, Michelangelo Junior High School 144 offers a dynamic range of opportunities for students to engage meaningfully both during the school day and in after-school programs. These clubs foster personal interests, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community, enriching the overall student experience. Our guidance counselors provide personalized support throughout the high school admissions process, and we are proud that our graduates have earned acceptance into many of New York City's specialized high schools, as well as music schools, art schools, and fashion schools.
