About the school
E.S.M.T. - I.S. 190 is located at 1550 Crotona Park East, Bronx, NY 10460. We share the building with Francisco Oller Community School 61 (C.S. 61). We are a collaborative school community dedicated to improving our students' academic performance while fostering their physical, mental, social, and emotional growth. We provide a nurturing environment, standards and data driven instruction to address the needs of each student. Through continued collaboration of parents, administrators, staff, and community-based organizations, we will prepare every student to meet the needs of an ever-changing society. We envision that each student values education, holds high personal and educational expectations, is accountable for his/her own learning, communicates effectively, excels in all areas, connects school and real-life situations, and develops into a life-long learner. We offer the following academic subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical/Health Education, Visual Arts, Music, and AIS. As part of College and Career Readiness, three Regents courses are offered in Grade 8: Algebra 1, U.S. History and Government, and Biology. We enrich and supplement our school curriculum through academic and non-academic activities such as After School Academy, educational trips to colleges/universities, Broadway shows, parks, museums, and other educational institutions. We are in partnership with East Side House. It is a Community Based Organization that supports family and community engagement in our school. It offers after school and summer programs in different areas - academic, sports, arts, technology, and leadership skills. It prepares our students to face academic and social challenges in middle school and beyond.
