About the school
At ACCION Academy, we have a unique opportunity to provide an individualized, warm, and caring environment for our students because our school is just the right size. This means that our highly motivated and compassionate teachers can form meaningful relationships with students and parents on the journey towards success. We can give each child our full attention to ensure they receive whatever services, programs, or activities they need to grow. Academically, we strive to provide our students with ample opportunities to reach their full potential. We currently offer Algebra 1 Regents course and we are looking to add more courses in the coming year. ACCION stands for "Achievement, Community, Consciousness, Integrity, Opportunity Now!" Our family-oriented school community fosters the highest levels of achievement, mentoring, and service. The student government helps to influence our school's decisions. Our CBO, Replications, provides additional supports in mental health, academic tutoring and attendance. Our after-school program SONYC, through Eastside House, provides enrichment and recreational activities to promote student autonomy and hands on activity through role play and problem solving. They also foment leadership skills within our students and provide the opportunity to attend a week leadership retreat in Washington DC where students engage in activities to Furthermore, there are variety of activities including Basketball Team, Chess Club, Drama Club, Volleyball Club, Student Government, Dance Club, PGC and Beyond Differences Accelerators (Social Emotional) and much more.
