About the school
At MS 88, every student is known, valued, and inspired. We are a welcoming, innovative middle school where students discover their passions, develop their voice, and build the confidence and skills for future success. Beginning in Fall 2026, MS 88 launches a redesigned middle school experience that combines rigorous academics, student choice, and real-world learning within smaller learning communities where students develop meaningful relationships, a strong sense of belonging, and the personalized support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. All sixth graders begin in our Discovery Academy, a supportive transition program focused on executive functioning, organization, leadership, and independence while exploring both the Creative Conservatory (Arts) and Innovation Institute (STEM) through immersive electives and project-based learning. At the end of sixth grade, students choose a pathway that aligns with their interests. The Creative Conservatory nurtures artistic expression through visual arts, music, theater, and performance, while the Innovation Institute immerses students in coding, robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence, health sciences, digital media, and design thinking. Across all grades, students develop critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and leadership through authentic learning, capstone experiences, and community partnerships. With accelerated coursework, comprehensive supports, and exceptional programs in athletics, robotics, theater, music, visual arts, and student leadership, MS 88 empowers every learner to become an innovative thinker, compassionate leader, and engaged citizen prepared to thrive in high school, college, careers, and beyond.
