About the school

The New York Harbor Middle School staff prepares students to be lifelong learners who advocate for their communities and the harbor that surrounds them. We strive to build a culture of collective responsibility, civic engagement, curiosity, and joy through the process of learning and authentic problem solving. Students take weekly field trips and participate in place-based projects and activities. They also engage in exciting electives like the Harbor News team, Brooklyn Boatworks, and Hydroponic Gardening. Our advisory program helps students transition to middle school and builds their social and emotional skills as they become adolescents. Students also have the opportunity to join our free after school program which includes fun activities such as Cooking Club, Dance Team, Theater, Basketball, and Tae Kwon Do.
