About the school
The School of Integrated Learning M.S. 354 is an International Baccalaureate-IB school, with a focus on college and career readiness. We enrich our scholars with a high quality curriculum, curated to enhance their preparedness for post-secondary education and career. As a newly redesigned STEM+A school, our curriculum emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and the Arts (STEM+A), to challenge scholars to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Students engage in exploratory project based learning alongside and be mentored by High school and College students, as we continue to partner with Medgar Evers Preparatory H.S., PTECH, Brooklyn Technical H.S. and NY Institute of Technology. All students engage in Service-Learning Projects as part of the Civics for All Curriculum. Scholars in our Phoenix Academy Screened Program (K354A) are on a track to sit Regents Exams in US History and Government, Integrated Algebra I and Living Environment. All our seventh-grade scholars take the 8th grade NYS Science Test. Students select and participate in one of four academies, Home Economics, Performing Arts, Sports, and Technology, to bolster their Social Emotional Learning and enrich their interests and talents. Most of our scholars are accepted to their first-choice high school, with some attending specialized high schools. All classrooms have SMART Boards; we have a mobile science lab, and laptop carts. As needed, scholars are provided Academic Intervention Services (AIS), to meet the New Generation Learning Standards-NGLS. We use auto-dials, email, text updates, Jupiter, a monthly newsletter, Instagram (@MS354BROOKLYN), and our school website, to keep our parents informed. Families also get the opportunity to see a Broadway show each spring.
