About the school

The Brooklyn Science and Engineering Academy (BSEA) promotes a family-like environment with small class sizes, open communication with families and interest based crews. We foster opportunities within STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education across all content areas. Students' school hours are 8:00am - 2:51pm Mondays - Thursdays. Students are dismissed at 12:50pm on Fridays. Families may register students for the after school DYCD program that dismisses at 5:00 pm each day at no cost. At BSEA, we build exposure to our STEAM Dispositions into our curriculum in every classroom. Students learn to be problem solvers, critical thinkers, risk takers, collaborative and communicative, reflective, and focus not only on learning outcomes, but the process of the learning itself. We seek opportunities for students to exercise these dispositions through partnerships such as our NYC Junior Ambassadors program, where students attend events to develop solutions to climate change issues with Ambassadors from the United Nations or Debate, where we’ve won the Borough Championship two years in a row. At BSEA, you will be exposed to coding, robotics, engineering, design, and the arts. Our school has a STEM lab as well as individual laptops in all classrooms. We offer a wide array of sports. Students participate in flag football, soccer, track, basketball, wiffle ball, and volleyball. BSEA students attend many trips in order to bring their learning to life.
