About the school
At Margaret S. Douglas JHS 292 we launch future LEADERS! Our goal is to develop our scholars into leaders by providing them with education that prepares them for success in high school, college and beyond. Our teachers work collaboratively to ensure that students are provided instruction based on their individual needs. We strive to meet the academic, cultural and social needs of our scholars by providing them with rigorous instruction in all content areas that is culturally relevant. In addition we engage in social emotional learning with restorative practices embedded throughout our community. We have a Specialized High School program called LEADERS offered to all students that gives them the opportunity to prepare for the Specialized High Schooltest therefore giving them anopportunity to attend specialized high schools. As a result of attending our Leaders program many of our students pass the test and attend Stuyvesant High School, Brooklyn Latin HS, and Brooklyn Technical High School. We also have students that are acceptedthrough a rigorous application process to Bard Early College HS. Our seventh and eighth grade scholars are afforded the opportunity to prepare for and take Regents exams in Algebra 1; Biology ; and US History . Over 90% of our scholars who take theregents exam pass with a 90% or higher rate which earns them accelerated high school credit. We also offer performing arts classes such as Dance, Culinary Arts, Music/Band,Fitness, Drama/Theaterand Film Making.
