About the school

Young Writers is a small, supportive 6-12 school community where excellent teaching, close relationships, and high expectations lead students to secondary and post secondary success. Our Summer Bridge program allows students to connect with current staff, build relationships with other incoming peers, and engage in activities that will help them be successful in their first year. We use a restorative approach to support student development, strengthen relationships and as an alternative to traditional discipline. Classes are student-centered and focus on developing reading, writing, discussion, and presentation skills. Our academic rigor is supported by academic intervention services built into student's schedules. We believe that young people should be provided with the space to explore their identity, the tools to advocate for themselves, and the skills to achieve on their path to college and career. Students are exposed to possible college and career paths through virtual and in-person college trips. Along with college trips, students are able to engage with guest speakers from various career backgrounds throughout the school year. Our 6th graders will end the year as a contributing author to a published book through various publishing companies. As a 6-12 school our 8th grade middle school students are guaranteed admission to our competitive high school.
