Frederick Douglass Academy VIII is a 100% uniform college preparatory school that provides each scholar with a diverse education in a safe, nurturing environment which promotes self-discipline, independence, citizenship, motivation and excellence in order to contribute responsibly to global society and improve the quality of life for self and others. Our motto is "What's possible for me is possible for you!" Scholars are the center of our school. Challenging our scholars at all levels is our goal. We offer a variety of programs to help students reach their potential academically and socially. They will have the opportunity to engage in various art forms (visual arts, dance, music and theater. We also Verizon Innovative Learning School and offer spanish as a foreign language. Our scholars are able to take regents courses in order to enter high school with HS credits. Scholars attend many trips which include overnight and day college tours. Educating the whole child is our mission. Parental involvement is also important at FDAVIII. We have a family-oriented environment where parents and guardians are welcome to visit their child's school on open access "Parent Empowerment" Days. We also have an afterschool program that is open to all grades. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @FrederickDouglassAcademyVIII.
