About the school
KAPPA V recognizes that each child is an individual who is creative and can succeed. We believe that all students are capable of learning, and we work to develop the social, academic, and intellectual habits that will inspire them to become tomorrow s leaders. KAPPA V is a college and career-ready school that provides rigorous instruction and exposure to college and university life for both our students and their families. This is made possible through our interactive curriculum, college tours, and workshops. Our school has made significant academic gains, with a 22% increase in our ELA state exam scores last year. We continue to prioritize literacy because we know that if students can read and comprehend, they can master any subject. To give our students a competitive edge, 8th-grade students can earn high school credits by taking the Algebra I and Living Environment Regents exams. We offer a wide range of academic and enrichment programs: STEM Program: A hallmark of our school, our STEM program includes project-based learning, hands-on science projects, drone photography, and flight aviation. Computer Science for All: This initiative exposes our students to careers in computer science through robotics, game/program design, and more. Arts Partnerships: Through partnerships with Opus Dance Theatre and Broadway Junior, students can explore dance, photography, steel pan, marching band, majorettes, choir, chess, and drama. Extended Day Program: Our program runs until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, offering academic intervention, sports, trips, and various arts and STEM programs. We also ensure our scholars have two electronic devices (one for school and one for home) and have a dedicated social-emotional learning curriculum to help them navigate middle school life.
