About the school

At PS/MS 200, The Magnet School of Global Studies & Leadership, our mission is to help students realize their potential as leaders in the classroom, school, neighborhood, nation, and world. We foster an environment that gives students, staff, and families a voice. We instill in students the understanding that we only learn when we are being challenged to think deeply. We cultivate the belief that we can always improve, even if we are struggling. We recognize the far-reaching impact of compassion for others and we celebrate diversity and its many benefits to our school community. We are a small school, but we span Grades 3K - 8. At our school, there is a 1:13 teacher-to-student ratio, which enables students and staff members to build strong relationships. Due to our small size and low teacher-to-student ratio, the school community is characterized by a true family spirit. Students in Grades 6-8 study global issues and consider ways in which they can make a difference at a young age. In addition to core subjects, our middle school students can learn about theater, visual arts, spanish, coding, and more. We have a student government and a student-run school newspaper. Students are invited to exercise at school before the first period of the day and we have a free after-school program.
