About the school

Our school community is characterized by our service to our children in Grades 3K-8. The students, under the guidance of our Student Government, chose the H.U.S.K.Y. mascot, which stands for: Honesty, Understanding, Self-Control, Kindness, and You are a Leader. We are dedicated to the mission of each child "developing as a reader" and finding joy in becoming a literate person. We thrive using the HMH Into Reading literacy program and the Math EnVisions 2.0 program in grades K-8. We also offer a Gifted & Talented curriculum in Grades 3, 4, and 5. Most of our teachers are trained through the LETRS certification process. We are an accredited Thinking Maps school, which provides students with 8 tools to visualize their thinking across the curriculum. Our students in grades 3K-8 have access to high-speed internet, iPads, and Chromebooks for use both at school and at home. Our active community approach provides our students with plentiful supplies and access to a clothing pantry. We are committed to enrichment activities and family supports through a partnership with the Department of Youth and Community Development, providing after-school programs for grades K-8.
