Nestled in the heart of multicultural Astoria, I.S. 141 The Steinway School has ranked among the top 20% of schools for the past decade. We provide rigorous, inquiry-based instruction in a caring, supportive, and highly engaging environment where students are empowered to learn through collaborative exploration and critical thinking. At I.S. 141, we believe students learn best when actively engaged in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and ownership, and our mission is to ensure that every student thrives in collaborative, culturally responsive classrooms where academic excellence, equity, and social-emotional well-being are prioritized. Working together with administrators, teachers, families, and students, we cultivate a school community in which every stakeholder feels like a“pirate on a daring and adventurous educational journey. We are proud to offer an Accelerated Program that provides in-depth study and prepares students for Regents examinations in Biology, U.S. History and Government, and Algebra I, while also promoting the arts and humanities through music, visual arts, and computer arts programs that encourage creativity, innovation, and self-expression. As part of our commitment to preparing students for success in college, careers, and civic life, I.S. 141 proudly participates in New York City Public Schools initiatives, including College Access for All, Algebra for All, Civics for All, Computer Science for All, and the SHSAT Program, ensuring students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become lifelong learners and leaders in an ever-changing world.
