About the school
At Edwin Markham Intermediate School 51, students have the opportunity to choose from three enrichment academies that allow them to explore their interests while developing new skills.Our academy options include Performing Arts (Band, Dance, and Drama), Fine Arts (Art, Digital Art, Virtual Enterprise and Music Production), and Video Robotics. Students participate in their selected enrichment program daily, providing meaningful opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning.Our rigorous academic program prepares students for success in high school, college, and future careers. We provide targeted support and accelerated learning opportunities for all students, including opportunities to earn high school credit through Regents-level courses in Biology, Algebra I, and U.S. History, as well as Spanish Proficiency. In addition to our academy programs, I.S. 51 offers a comprehensive after-school program featuring a wide variety of clubs and activities designed to meet the diverse interests of our students. Athletic opportunities include Basketball, Baseball, Bowling, Track, Softball, Volleyball, and Soccer, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.
