About the school
At the Horace E. Greene School (P.S./I.S. 45), we envision that our students will develop the decision-making, critical thinking, and technological skills necessary to communicate effectively. Our 45 Panther family staff members are focused on empowering all students with the academic skills and social experiences that will enable them to increase their educational and social goals. We celebrate our multicultural and diverse student body and are united as a P.S./I.S. 45 Panther family. We are focused on improving our instructional curriculum to ensure that all students learn at high levels and master all content area standards. We use I-Ready as a digital resource to provide students with personalized learning opportunities. This along with other student data is used to provide differentiated small group instructional experiences to accelerate student learning in ELA and Mathematics. We have a safe and inclusive school culture supported by these key initiatives: Kids at Hope: A cultural framework that reinforces our mantra: all kids are capable of success, no exceptions! Our program includes: The National junior Honor Society, school service projects, NY Edge Afterschool Program, Elective Fridays which includes: debate club, gardening club, Prancing Panthers dance team, Stepping Panthers step team, and our 45 Panther School Band.We offer courses in Visual Arts, Music, Library Media Science, and STEAM.We are the P.S./I.S. 45 Panthers and we never settle for less than our best!We are determined, persistent and Capable of Success!
