About the school

At Philippa Schuyler Middle School for the Gifted and Talented, we believe every student holds unique gifts and potential. Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where young minds thrive through engagement, exploration, and empowerment. Guided by our core values S.T.O.R.M. (Scholarship, Trailblazing, Oration, Reflection, and Mastery) we blend the arts with rigorous academics, offer real-world learning experiences, and help students grow into confident speakers and writers ready to shape the future. We offer advanced opportunities, including Regents-level courses in English Language Arts, Biology, U.S. History, and Algebra, along with Spanish and a full spectrum of performance and visual arts. Students benefit from SHSAT prep, Regents review, and audition coaching for performing arts high schools.Beyond the classroom, students explore new initiatives through field experiences such as high school and college visits, and trips to museums and parks. Through creativity, leadership, and our S.T.O.R.M. values, we prepare the next generation of changemakers.
